Ben Denzer is a 17 year old artist from Overland Park, Kansas. Ben enjoys experimentation with paint, pencil, clay, paper and film, but his unique medium is masking tape. During his short career, he has produced an eclectic portfolio of sculptures, both abstract and realistic. A review of earlier works reveals a purist ideology, with sculptures constructed solely out of tape. As Ben’s manipulation of the medium matured, he experimented with various methods to reinforce and preserve his work. As he expanded into larger sculptures he has developed skeletal reinforcement and preservation techniques to build stronger, longer-lasting sculptures. Some of Ben’s earlier works have been given new life in his “Recycles of Man” series.
